FrostFallen Decay
I highly recommend playing the game in fullscreen mode. Unity WebGL compression does not handle pixel dithering well.
You open up one of your old favorite point-and-click games. It’s been almost 15 years since you last played it back in high school. You usually don’t enjoy horror games, but somehow, this one struck a chord. While waiting for it to load, you glance at the old cassette sticker—it reads FrostFallen Decay 8-bit. It’s pretty worn; I wonder if it would still be resellable. After a couple of minutes, it finally finishes loading, but… huh… somehow, it feels kinda different

Stuck?
If you are stuck on what you should do after fueling the generator, once the generator is on, you progress to the next day by clicking on the bed (it's left of the chimney). In hindsight, I should probably have made that a bit clearer, lol
Created for Shroom Jam 2024.
I made the game in five days, so it’s not super ambitious, but I hope you still enjoy it!
I took a lot of inspiration from The House Abandoned and John Carpenter's The Thing. There are also some minor influences from Silent Hill and Frontiers of the Mind.
I've always loved The House Abandoned for its amazing meta angle, so I wanted to try to emulate a somewhat meta touch with the story and visuals.
And the John Carpenter influences are pretty obvious, lol.

As a huge fan of "The Thing" this was an absolutely incredible game. I really enjoyed the tension of not knowing what was going on and if our dear friend was done for. My only issue is that i got REALLY confused when the game -glitches- and replayed the whole thing thinking i broke it lol. Other than that i had a good time and would love to see more like this!
I made a video on your game if you're interested :)Hey, thanks! Sorry about that glitch fakeout, lol. I probably should have made it a bit clearer. The game jam’s theme was corruption, so I felt like I had to include some level of corruptions to fit the theme. There were also supposed to be a lot more scares and events, but I didn’t have time to implement them.
About the sound, I completely agree. Adding some background music and ambient effects would have made the game a lot better, but I couldn’t figure out how to implement a proper music system in time.
Thanks a ton for playing my game!
I totally get it. I've never made a game myself but i can imagine the pressure a jam would put on you.. You did great, friend.
I appreciate your reply.
Happy holidays !
Thanks! Happy holidays!
Wow the effort that went into the style is insane
Thanks! It was really fun to experiment with Unity's post-processing effects. It took a lot of time to get the CRT effect to look right, but I think it made the game alot more interesting to look at.
Great vibe, I enjoye dit
Thanks, means alot!
The story panel takes up the visable screen after the game starts (insted of the first gameplay screen), you can still interact and get out of it but you have to blindly click on things you can't see until you escape.
Dang gotta be a layering issue fixing it now. Shoulde be fixed in the next patch.
Should be fixed now.
Sorry I can't get out of that screen at all now.
Weird, i thought i fixed it. Can you click* on the story text?
Yes it works fine now.
